Tex-Mex Turkey Sloppy Joes

Ingredients
  • Olive oil: 1 tbsp (15 mL)
  • Extra lean ground turkey: 1 lb (500 g)
  • Onion: 1 finely diced
  • Green pepper: 1 diced
  • Chili powder: 1 tbsp (15 mL)
  • Ground cumin: 2 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce: 2 tbsp (30 mL)
  • Ketchup: 1 cup (250 mL)
  • Soft rolls: 2, split

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon

Directions
  1. Heat oil in large skillet on high heat. Crumble in ground turkey. Cook 5 min., breaking up large pieces with wooden spoon. Drain excess fat. Stir in onions, peppers, chili powder and cumin. Cook 3 to 5 min., or until meat is browned and vegetables are softened.
  2. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and 1/3 cup (75 mL) water, scraping browned bits from skillet. Stir in ketchup. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, 8 to 10 min., until mixture is thickened.
  3. Divide meat mixture over 4 half-rolls.
