Dietary Supplements

Visit www.dietitians.ca to locate a Registered Dietitian in your area or ask your family physician for a referral.

Athletes should be careful using dietary supplements, including vitamins, herbs, and various pills and powders without first consulting a doctor. Some supplements do not mix well with certain medication and may pose a health risk.

If a supplement claim sounds too good to be true, it often is. Supplements should not replace the eating of healthy nutrients. The best and highest quality source of vitamins and minerals is directly from the original source – food!
